Tote-ally Tess

is another retiring set, and since I have a few birthday cards to make this month, it is a perfect set.

What about this colour combination, I love my Colour Coach (it's like having an Art Teacher in the room with you).  The combo is Pear Pizzazz, Blushing Bride and Early Expresso.   I stamped Tess onto Whisper White and coloured her hair, skin and shoes with my watercolour crayons and then stamped her again onto some Nursery Nest DSP for her pants and shirt.  Yes, I will admit, those pants, just might be like I pair I had in the 70's!!!  The cupcake is from Short & Sweet, another retiring set, that will not make it to the "yes, I am selling them this year" retired stamps.  Love that sentiment set but I will admit that there are a couple in the new catalogue that will help easy the withdrawal from it!

Fossil stone technique but this time I used Melon Mambo and Pretty in Pink, whadda ya think?

Quite the background for this card.  An elegant birthday, notice Tess is dressed up in a long gown.  Here is a close up of the gown

Yes, it is all SU current products, have I got you mystified?  I first stamped Tess onto a piece of lightweight cardboard and cut out a "pattern" for the dress.  I copied that onto Basic Black cardstock and cut it out and then sprayed it with Silver Foil Smooch.  It looks amazing in person, and of course when you are wearing black nothing goes better than a simple diamond necklace or in Tess's case, Rhinestones.  It is so nice that we are able to buy them now (119246- $6.50 for 50 each of three different sizes.  The cupcake Tess is holding comes from the Short & Sweet set, can you tell I haven't put it back in the cupboard yet.  More rhinestones on the sentiment to add just a little more bling to this card.

Funky Folds

 
Need a change from your basic 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 score in the middle card-how about a Funky Fold.  Make your basic card, then cut off 1 1/4" and add another panel to the back edge that folds over the shorten front.

 Very different but very simple.  This card uses Tote-ally Tess and the little cupcake is from Short & Sweet and the sentiment from the now retired Happy Moments Sale-a-bration set.  The Designer Series paper on the front is from Shades of Spring pack from the Occasions Mini, I think it goes very nicely with Pale and Perfect Plum cardstock. Speaking of the Shades of Spring DSP, April 31st is the last day to order from the Occasions Mini.

Bitty Birthday

March is such a busy month in our family, with birthdays and anniversaries so I thought I'd better get started.  Bitty Birthday is one of the FREE Sale-a-bration stamps that you can get so I combined it with our party Girl, Tote-ally Tess for a fun birthday card.

 Aren't those balloons perfect for Tess.  I stamped the balloons from Bitty Birthday twice with Black Staz-on onto watercolor paper and colored them in with my Aquapainter and Pretty in Pink, Melon Mambo and Crushed Curry markers.  If you have never tried this method of watercoloring it is great,  color a bit of the image with your marker and then use your Aquapainter to move the color. Then I cut the balloons out and attached Silver Elastic cording to the backs with tape as the cording is so slippery and then all the strings are attached together with a simple double knot of the cording.  Tess is stamped onto Very Vanilla and colored in with markers and then using my Color Spritzer I used the same three markers and added splatter to the background as well as on the Happy Birthday so that they just weren't so stark.  The Pretty in Pink card base is 3 x 6 and a Melon Mambo scalloped strip is highlighted with simple White Gel pen dots and then the main image is attached, and then the balloons are attached with dimensionals and the strings attached to her hand with a mini glue dot.

Bad habits

are hard to break!  My bad (ok one of my) habit is I write important things on any scrap of paper and you guessed it, I can't find it later.  Makes my family pull out their hair!  So look what I made for my desk

Simple but because it sits at a angle instead of flat I should be able to find it on my desk. 

I used a acrylic $$$ store frame 5 x 3 1/2 and inserted a piece of Crushed Curry Textured card stock onto which I had attached a half circle of Rich Razzleberry and Whisper White.  Tote-ally Tess is stamped and colored with my markers, Rich Razzleberry, Pretty in Pink, Blush Blossom and Soft Suede. Now you know what my next dilemma will be?  Too many post -it notes stuck to everything!!

More Tote-Ally Tess

She's coming, January 5th, 2010 in the new Occasions Mini.  Remember how I told you before that this stamp set is Clear Mount and it takes up very little space, which is why I was able to bring it with me.  For this card I used Night of Navy for the base and then a Whisper White Top Note staggered with a Bashful Blue Top Note.  Tess is stamped and then colored with my markers, I wasn't sure how Blush Blossom was going to work over the Bashful Blue but it worked fine.  The bag is stamped on a piece of DSP and then cut out and I cut a little piece of the handle so that the arm is not covered.  The little card is stamped on Ruby Red and cut out.  The sentiment was stamped on Whisper White and punched with the Oval Scallop layered onto Night of Navy that was punched using the Punch Window dies.  A tiny Bashful Blue 1/4" grosgrain bow finishes it off.  My question is why can I tie a tiny bow and have trouble with normal size bows?
