but coming home to a big box of new Stampin' Up goodies, makes returning home wonderful too! And I did not allow myself to even look at it until I unpacked and put away everything I brought home, how is that for self control!
A friend lost his brother while we were away so I needed to make a Sympathy card and in my box of goodies, the set, Thanks for Caring. I used a technique that is featured on SUDSOL this week, using Shimmer Paint and your acrylic blocks.
Peaked your curiousity? What you do is ink up your acrylic block(that's right, just the block no stamp) and then spritz on Shimmer Paint mixed with alcohol, stamp and let dry. Now, use this as a background and stamp your image over the top and you have a beautiful shimmery background. Now I stamped off once before I spritzed the block as I wanted just a faint color.
I used Early Expresso as the card base, then using the Dotted Scalloped Ribbon border punch I punched two strips of Crumb Cake and layered them under a piece of Sunny Garden DSP. Using Whisper White as the image panel, I used Crumb Cake on my block and Platinum Shimmer Paint and the image is stamped in Early Expresso. Inside
The butterfly is from Thanks for Caring while the wording is from the retired set, Closes as a Memory. I used my Color Spritzer and Early Expresso marker and added a bit of spritzing to tone down the Whisper White and a little bit of Certainly Celery dabbed onto the butterfly for color.
Happy Stamping,
