Retiring stamps

If you have taken a moment to look at the retiring stamps list, you might be a bit worried as it looks like all the Christmas stamps are leaving.  Well, they kind of are, there are no Christmas stamps in the new catalogue-but don't worry, the Holiday Mini will be full of them and the space that they took up, is filled with new everyday stamps.  It's a win-win situation, new everyday stamps and new Christmas stamps. Now, don't get me wrong, I am going to miss Snow Much Fun, I think it is my favorite Christmas stamp

Triple Time

And the last Christmas card

Time to put all those Christmas sets back in the cupboard!  This little guy I will miss, Snow Much Fun, both of the snowmen in the this set are just too cute.

The DSP is from Festival Prints stack with great double sided sheets, this side, Lucky Limeade, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla and Cherry Cobbler.  Flip the DSP over and

you get another gorgeous sheet, Island Indigo, Very Vanilla, Bashful Blue and Cherry Cobbler.   Same layout, same stamp set, same DSP, totally different card.

Oh no, not your average sized

gift card but still super easy to make a gift card holder.  

The finished holder is  a standard sized card 4 1/2 x 5 1/2  and using our new Stampin' Trimmer, it was easy to cut.  Pop your entire sheet of cardstock in your trimmer landscape position, cut at 5 1/2" to the 4 1/4" mark stop.  Move your paper over to the 6 1/2" mark and cut from the 4 1/2" mark to the end.  Now turn your cardstock and cut between the two cuts.  Now score at 4 1/2 , then fold up the extra 1" to form your pocket for the gift card.  

To hold the card closed I just made a betty band out of Whisper White and covered the seam with the happy Snowman.

Vellum & Frosty Friends

Easy Layouts are perfect

I love simple layouts like this one and they are the best when you need to make quite a few cards. But simple layouts do not mean boring cards, our Designer Series papers really make the cards come to life.

These cards use the Marina Mist DSP from the Polka Dot Parade pack while the next cards use the Island Indigo DSP from Festival of Prints stack.

Cut the DSP to 4 x 5 1/4 and attach to your card base.  The image panel is 2 1/4 x 4 1/2 and is matted with a piece 2 3/8 x 4 5/8 for a skinny mat.  The sentiment from Petite Pairs is stamped using Black Stazon and punched out with a retired oval and layered onto the Small Oval punch.  This snowman image from Snow Much Fun has just a few details coloured with our Marvelous Markers and highlighted with our Two Way Glue pen and Dazzling Details.  Notice the envelopes, they too have the snowman stamped on then, but no colouring so they don't run if they get wet (what can I say, I live on the westcoast, rain at this time of year, is normal!)

Brown for Christmas

Not your classic Christmas colour but this paper was in the Festival of Prints Stack so I thought I would try it and well, I really like it. Kind of looks like he is standing outside at night!

I used our Naturals Ivory for the card base and stamped the Snowman from Snow Much Fun onto Whisper White using Black Stazon, coloured him and cut him out.  If you have new tried our Naturals Ivory or White, you really should.  They are thicker than Very Vanilla or Whisper White and are perfect for making card bases.

MIght as well get started

My goal is to have all my Christmas shopping, wrapping and cards done by October 31.  Yes, in 20 days, I want to be done everything wrapped and hidden.  I will say I am doing very good at my goal so let's hope I can finish.  
Now buying a gift card counts as a gift, and in order to wrap it, you must make a gift card holder-right?

use glue dots to attach your gift card.  The only problem with getting Christmas done early, no Christmas themed gift cards!  Oh well, they spend just the same.

Snow Much Fun Gift Card Holder

Found the instructions for this holder on Splitcoast Stampers, a fabulous pop up giftcard holder designed by Kim Score.  I had Snow Much Fun stamp set sitting on my desk so decided it was perfect to make a scene for the front of this holder.  Kim designed a really cool way of securing it, kind of like a belly band but 

so much easier for the recipient to use.  It uses two 1/2" circles, two brads and some baker's twine to close.  Open the band

open the card and up pops the gift card.  Now I'll bet  you are wondering, what is that paper she is using?  Oh my goodness, you are going to love this FREE pack when Sale-a-bration starts.  Absolutely gorgeous-in fact, I am going to need some more very soon.  The pack is called Everyday Enchantment DSP and uses Pool Party, Lucky Limeade, Peach Parfait, Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Very Vanilla and Soft Suede.  I thought it looked Christmas-y with the green and then the colourful one-kind of like Christmas candies!

Here is the side view.  I love this holder and it is very easy to make, imagine a bright coloured birthday one, hmmm, what a great way to actually use that DSP we have been saving!

Use your shapes

Rectangles, circles and ovals for this card.  The pudgy little snowman fits so well in the 2 1/2" circle punch just a bit of his snowball gets missed.  So stamp another and cut it out and stick it on making it look like he really is tossing that snowball. The Lucky Limeade circle mat is cut with my Circle Scissor at 2 3/4".  I used Pool Party cardstock for the back layer, running it through the Big Shot with the Houndstooth embossing folder and then the next layer is a strip Pool Party DSP.  If you are looking for a fabulous sentiment set, check out Petite Pairs-it has both outside and inside sentiments all in one set.

and they are sized to fit into so many of our punches.

Red and Green

traditional colours for Christmas and Garden Green with the glittery dots of Real Red from Holly Berry Bouquet Designer Series paper certainly makes a bright card.

 

  

My happy snowman is back sporting  Garden Green and Pacific Point for his wardrobe today.  Simple layout, great card.

Long time since

I used this set!  and I know, you were wondering!

figured out the set? and to confuse you I used two different sets!  I saw this sketch on SCS and the card was so easy.  The sets, Snow Much Fun (the tree) and the ornaments are from Every Little Bit.  The plaid DSP is from Frostwood Lodge, doesn't it remind you of a flannel shirt.  I used our new 1" square punch for the ornaments layering them onto Cherry Cobbler punched out with our Postage Stamp. Simple, quick and another Christmas card done.
