Birthdays

Trying to get a bit ahead this year and get a stash of birthday cards ready before I need them.  And most of all get them in the mail on time, so they will be received before the birthday day.  I know, remarkable if it really happens, but that is my goal for the year. How about this pretty little number

 
 I love this Melon Mambo DSP from the Ice Cream Parlour Sale-a-bration pack.  The scallop border is one of the self adhesive die cuts that comes with the pack.  I stamped the sentiment from On Your Birthday onto Whisper White with Melon Mambo ink and added the Pretty in Pink satin bow with a Vintage brad.

Mini Background Stamps

As you know, Stampin' Up has wonderful background stamps, but have you noticed the smaller background stamps?  We have A to Z, Dot,Dot,Dot, Fine Flourish and Solid Stripes.  All of these stamps are another of the options for Free products during Sale-a-bration.

 
 These stamps measure approximately 2 3/4 x 3 so are perfect for small gift cards, stamped one beside another with the help of your Stamp-a-ma-jig for correct placement or as a smaller image panel on a larger card or box.

Two items you Need

Glimmer Paper (121790) $4.95 and Framed Tulips Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (121809)$10.95.

 The embossing folder is so beautiful and the Glimmer paper, WOW.

 This folder makes lovely frames for your card fronts and is so easy to adjust to make smaller frames images as well.  The glimmer paper punches like nothing and adds so much pizzazz to your piece.  Since the glitter does not rub or flake off, it is perfect for scrapbook pages.  So have you figured out what Sale-a-bration items I used today since you know it isn't the paper or the embossing folder?  It is the stems from Sweet Summer and the sentiment from Hello, You another SAB option.

Bright & Cheerful

 Pretty In Pink, Certainly Celery and Whisper White make a lovely color combination, one that I don't use enough anymore but when I first started making cards, it was my go to color combination.  I used the Sweet Summer Sale-a-bration Set again, stamping two flowers and then using a sponge dauber, added some Pretty in Pink ink to get a soft overall color for the flower

 and added mini pearls to the centers. The mat for the image is made using the Scallop trim border and corner punches and a 2 7/8" square of Certainly Celery, while Pretty In Pink DSP from the Subtles Collection is also scalloped with the same punch along the bottom edge.

 Using the Jewelry Tag punch I punched out the two words and attached them with a piece of Linen thread to the bow to give a different look.

Quick & Easy Thank you

Loving the DSP and Quick Accents pack from Sale-a-bration.  This Melon Mambo paper is so pretty and add the decorative diecut self adhesive strip and you have pizzazz without effort.  Inside

Three little words

is a great set that you can get for free as a Sale-a-bration option.

 
Just think of how many different cards you can make with these simple sentiments.  Today I was making a sympathy card so I used So very Sorry.

 The floral image is from Fast & Fabulous a Level 2 hostess set.  Now this set is a Two Step Stamp but I used just the outline image and stamped it with Black Staz-on onto Watercolor paper and then using my Aquapainter and Pacific Point, So Saffron and  Wild Wasabi, colored in the image.  The sentiment is also stamped onto Watercolor paper and then using Tempting  Turquoise the images are matted and attached to a piece of  So Saffron DSP and then attached to a Very Vanilla  cardbase.

Do you ever feel like

a monster has invaded your body when you are sick?

 Well, this card is ME when I am sick!  I am loving this Make a Monster set, the images are just fun.  I used the same layout as yesterday and used the self adhesive die cuts from the Ice Cream Parlour Designer Series Paper & Quick Accents pack.  These die cuts are perfect for scrapbook pages or cards.  The sentiment is from Word Play and stamped in Pacific Point ink.

It's more than just stamps

that you can get FREE during Sale-a-bration.  Ice Cream Parlour is a Designer Series Paper & Quick Accents pack.  You get nine sheets, 3 each of 3 double sided designs 12 X 12 and two  sheets of self adhesive die cuts.  This paper is Stampin' Up's usual superior quality and uses Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Peach Parfait, Old Olive and Pacific Point for colors.

 To choose my colors I started with the DSP. The card is a Whisper White base, Daffodil Delight background and a strip of the Old Olive DSP.  The image from Make a Monster is stamped using Basic Grey ink onto Whisper White and again onto Old Olive.  I stamped the eyes and mouth onto the Old Olive and cut out the body and layered it onto the Whisper White.  The sentiment is from the Level One Hostess set, Afterthoughts and stamped using Pacific Point ink. 

 The feet are colored with Pumpkin Pie marker. Now the bag is a simple folded bag and I have used Whisper White grosgrain to hold it closed.  The tag is also made from the Hostess set, Afterthoughts and is colored with Pumpkin Pie marker so that I could easily omit part of the wording.

 Punch out with the Large Tag Punch and layered onto Pacific Point and attached with hemp twine. As usual, Stampin' Up takes the guesswork out of what goes with what as coordinating colors are listed with the DSP.

This set always reminds me

 
of my childhood.

 Figured it out?

Think back to TV in the early 70's?  Little partridges following each other, that's right!  The Partridge Family.  We never had cable growing up so it was one of the few shows we got and this set always makes my head start singing, trust me it's better than my mouth!!!

Simple card

  with a bit of punch.  The bird is stamped in Early Expresso onto Whisper White and then punched out using the 1 3/8" circle punch and then layered onto a Scalloped Circle punched out of Old Olive retired DSP.  The card base is Whisper White 4 x 4 with all corners rounded and then a 3 7/8" square of Old Olive with rounded corners.  A 2" band of Early Expresso anchors the focal image.   Now I didn't add a sentiment, I can add one later or just use the card like this.
