Going, Going,

and soon to be gone, the Summer Mini is in its last days so if you want a stamp set from it, better be quick and get your order in.  One of the stamps I am going to miss is Sail Away, a perfect "guy" card stamp.

 

I used a sketch from SCS for this card and the Designer Series Paper is from Well Worn, a perfect "guy" pack, not a flower to be seen! I used my Circle Scissor to cut the 4 1/2" circle cutting it at just over half. The image and sentiment are stamped in Not Quite Navy and the mats and brads are Not Quite Navy while the rest of the card is River Rock.

Our Summer Mini

may be forgotten due to the excitement of all the new stuff in the new Idea Book & Catalogue, but one must not forget that it still valid for two more months and it has some great stamps in there, including some that made it into the new catalogue.  One of the stamps that didn't make it into the catalogue, but is a fabulous stamp is Sail Away.  It is a a la carte stamp so just the one image for $11.95

 I started with a Whiser White card base, and then a Sahara Sand mat and a piece of the gorgeous Nautical Expedition DSP also from the Mini.  I stamped the image twice once on Sahara Sand and once on Whisper White using Not Quite Navy ink.  The sails were cut out of the Sahara Sand and attached to the Whisper White giving the image more dimension.  The Cherry Cobbler & White Baker's twine adds to the nautical flavour along with the compass from the Open Sea set.

Still Sailing Away

but this time using Debossed Vellum Technique.  I used Vellum Paper (101856 $7.95 for 20 8 1/2 x 11 sheets) and stamped the image with Black Stazon ink.  When stamping on Vellum, you need to be a bit careful as it is a very smooth surface so your stamps will slip around (now that is something that makes your images not to nice!) and your inks will take longer to dry.  After the image dries, use a stylus (ours is retiring so grab one now 100663 $3.25) and put your image upside down onto your paper piercing pad (the spongey one) and use your stylus to rub the areas you want to deboss.

 I used kind of up and down strokes for this to really give it a "sail" type look.  Now attach your vellum to a dark piece of cardstock using brads or if you are going to use glue, make sure that you can hide the glue with an embellishment.

I love our Summer Mini

it just seems to have that perfect mix, a little bit of everything to please everyone.  I really like all the masculine sets they have in it as I am sure you know, it can be challenging to make cards for our guys.  I mean what is wrong with ribbon anyway!!

Today I have used the a la carte stamp, Sail Away.  It is just great that SU has these single stamps and yes, they have more in the new catalogue coming out soon. 

 Now this is such a quick and easy card, stamp the sailboat using Early Expresso ink onto a 3 x 3 1/4 piece of Whisper White and mat with a 3 1/8 x    3 3/8 piece of Early Expresso.  Mat a  5 1/8 x 3 7/8 piece of DSP from Nautical Expedition onto a 5 1/4 x 4 piece of Early Expresso and then attach to a standard Whisper White card base.  The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is punched out with the Modern Label punch and matted with a Early Expresso piece cut with the Punch Windows for the Big Shot.  I used a couple of brads from the Vintage Trinkets collection.
