Friendly Phrases

is one of my favorite sentiment sets.  I love the mix of handwriting and printing, kind of like how I write!  Although, if you have seen my handwriting, it isn't nice like this but what I mean is I mix writing and printing  and that used to drive my teachers crazy.  Well, lots of years later, I still haven't changed. So here is the set,

I love all the different phrases, great for so many different cards.  This week I am going to show you five different cards all made with this set.  

 

I got the Ovals Framelits awhile ago and certainly haven't used them much but this was the perfect card.  I wanted the sentiment to stand out and I think the oval shape makes that happen.  The cute little monster from Make a Monster is coloured in with my Daffodil Delight watercolour crayon and my blender pen an d the Whisper White layer has been ran through the Big Shot with the Cloudy Day Impressions folder.  I do love this folder but I wish the pattern went the other way so you could do a entire card front with the folder, I don't know about you but sideways clouds just aren't right!  The Island Indigo background has also been run through the Big Shot with the Honeycomb folder

Take Two

Vintage Verses

Not too many more days to get this Sale-a-bration set.

And just like any other Sale-a-bration set, you can't buy it, you get it for FREE with a $60 order.  Well, I thought the top stamp would go perfect with the Make a Monster set- what do you think?

Island Indigo & Lucky Limeade both In Colours that are going to be retiring at the end of this catalogue.  The ribbon I used on the card is another Sale-a-bration offering, you get three rolls of this satin ribbon, Island Indigo, Tangerine Tango and Pool Party along with a collection of buttons. The happy  little monster is stamped on a piece of Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP and I cut out just the body and layered that onto the image that I stamped on the Whisper White.  I used my blender pen and Lucky Limeade ink pad to colour in the arm & legs.  Notice the clouds on the Whisper White layer, that is the new Impressions Folder Cloudy Day.

Last day of January

Spring is coming, can't you feel it?  Ok, maybe not feel it but we are almost through winter. Yeah, I am certainly not a winter person, dislike cold.  How about something bright for you today to help warm you up.

Daffodil Delight, Tempting Turquoise & Melon Mambo, that is bright!

This card is 4 1/4 square for a change, still fits and mails in our standard envelopes so no extra postage required.  The monster from Make a Monster is stamped in Black Stazon onto Whisper White and the arms and legs coloured with my Pink Pirouette marker and then I stamped the monster again onto a piece of Melon Mambo DSP added the face and cut out the body glueing it in place with Tombow.  Sentiment is from Bring on the Cake, lots of great birthday sentiments in this set.

Very Vanilla base with one of the happy little monsters from Make a Monster.  The sentiment I love and is from  One in a Million stamp set  and inside the second part of the sentiment   

I am so happy that we have so many of these types of sentiments which carry from the the front of the card to the inside.

Quick and Easy Birthday cards

Fancy Fold with a "Z"

Z folds are just a regular 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card with an extra score line-so simple- but totally changes the look.

Another bright colourful card using Marina Mist, Daffodil Delight and Lucky Limeade. Now I could have attached  a square or rectangle to the front to hide the inside but I used the Labels Framelits.  I used the Big Shot lots on this card, the Daffodil Delight banners are run through with embossing folders, Stripes and Perfect Polka Dots along with the Lucky Limeade label uses the Perfect Polka Dots folder as well.  The happy little guy is from Make a Monster and I stamped him first onto the Whisper White and then again onto a piece of DSP from Floral District and cut out his body while his arms and legs I coloured in with Daffodil Delight ink and my blender pen. The sentiment is from Up, Up & Away.

And inside a spot to write.

Flirtatious Fun!

How is this for a cheery card, perfect to send to one of my crazy relatives!  Using up more of my retiring DSP, the Pumpkin Pie piece is from Flirtatious Speciality and the striped Daffodil Delight from Big Top Birthday.  Loving the bright colours, have been drawn to them lately, I think due to the need for summer to arrive.  We are getting teased with a couple of beautiful sunny days only to return to the cold, damp rainy days.  It's almost June, we need summer!!

The little monster is from Make a Monster and stamped in Black Stazon and coloured in with my Watercolour crayons and a blender pen, then outlined with my Sahara Sand marker to make him jump off the page.

It was a Monster Mash

Remember that song- loved it and really enjoy it when I hear it on the radio nowadays. Well my son has a friend whose birthday is October 31st and he asked me to make him a card-gee, let's ask me to do a male card, someone I don't know and it's not like they are 6 anymore and anything goes.  But what surprised me the most was how easy and quick this card was!  Funny how that works isn't it.  

So how did I figure out what to do, first I decided to use Crumb Cake as my base and pulled out the Just add Cake DSP pack and my fall to guy birthday card stamp set-Make a Monster.  I ended up using four different stamp sets but since I have organized my room, it is so easy to find them. I said this was a quick card so rather than paper piecing my "Monster" I stamped on watercolour paper and just used my Aquapainter  to colour him in.  The sentiment is from Bring on the Cake and chose this sentiment as I wanted something that would work well on the watercolour paper.  I find if I stamp a solid stamp on watercolour paper, the results aren't to my liking.  So want to see the card?

Ok I will admit, after I did the focal image I decided with his hand up in the arm, he needed balloons so back into the stamp cupboard for Party Hearty, and quickly cut those out and using dimensionals add them to the card using our White Baker's twice to make the strings and a rolled up glue dot to attach them to him hand.  He needed a hat and the best set for that is Beary Best Friends and it too is attached with a dimensional.

Would you smile?

 If something this cute was sticking its tongue out at you?  Here is a super quick and easy birthday card using believe it or not, Melon Mambo (I know it looks like Real Red in the picture) and Certainly Celery.  The little strip of DSP is retired, but when you have just a scrap, you've got to use it up!

Monsters and Ghosts

So last week, I apparently missed posting the card and just gave you a teaser of words, so I am blaming it on  Ghosts.  When I was young, when things went missing in our home, we blamed it on Ghosts, so Ghosts must have taken my post!  The stamp set, Make a Monster is such a cute set, and since my hubby was turning 50 and still is a big kid, I thought Make a Monster would be a perfect set to use for his card.  Add on Bring on the Cake set from the Occasions Mini and you have quite the card

 I used Pear Pizzazz as the base and stamped random circles from Circle Circus using Old Olive ink.  In the circles, I stamped various eyes from the Make a Monster set.  The  Whisper White image panel is framed with Early Expresso using the Scallop Edge punch along the bottom and has the images stamped in Early Expresso.  I coloured in the 5 & 0 using my Pear Pizzazz marker and then put Crystal Effects over them making them really stand out

 The Monster body is stamped onto a bit of Pear Pizzazz DSP and then cut out and attached over the Early Expresso body.  A perfect birthday card, for those young at heart.
