I will say I am happy to see Pool Party & Island Indigo staying, and Soft Sky, Pear Pizzazz & Blushing Bride returning and I am going to miss Pretty in Pink, Baja Breeze. And also announced yesterday, Watercolour Crayons and Watercolour Pencils are being discontinued, due to a supplier issue.  They will only be available while quantities last, so get your order in quick.

And now, how about today's card? Lots of layers, lots of  colour, and it all started with the Designer Paper.  It is from Birds of a Feather ( I am really liking this pack) and it has Whisper White, Crumb Cake, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple, Summer Starfruit and the blue looks to me like Marina Mist but it is a light shade of Island Indigo.  Well, with that many colours, one has lots of choices or just use alot of colours!

I have used Whisper White, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals and added Pink Pirouette for a bit of contrast.

 

I stamped the cupcake onto Whisper White using my freshly inked Stazon pad and started colouring only to finish the cupcake and realize that my baby finger and the cake stand have lovely black smudges on them.  Note to self: A freshly inked ink pad means- lots of ink- longer to dry so I cut the cupcake out as I really liked the colouring job I did.  Stamped it again on another piece of Whisper White and used my heat tool to "set" the ink, not taking chances this time!  The cake stand was coloured in with our Silver Smooch which was on the clearance rack and then the cupcake glued on and I think it is better, no Smooch on the cupcake.  Other than that, this card was super easy to make.

Black & White

I love the look of Black and White together, so crisp and clean.  For this card I used three stamps from three different sets.  The Flourish is from Everything Eleanor, the birds from Easy Events and then the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

 

I embossed all the images using our Black embossing powder and trust me, it is so important to use your embossing buddy when doing black powder on white cardstock-you don't want black speckles everywhere.  Our scallop edge punch and scallop oval punch add the finishing touch.

Now I haven't used the chick or the mushrooms yet, so let's show you the chick in action.  Remember these little treat pouches I made for Valentine's Day and I said, they are perfect for an occasion.  Here it is all dressed up for Easter

Marina MIst and more of the Sunshine & Sprinkles DSP and the chick is stamped with Black Stazon onto our watercolour paper and coloured in with my blender pen and ink pads.  I find for small stamps, our blender pens work great to get into those little areas where a Aquapainter, is a tad too big.  He is punched out using our 1 3/4" circle punch and layered onto a Daffodil Delight Scallop circle punched with our 2 3/8" circle punch.  

Well hopefully I have given you a few good ideas for this set.

In the mood for Watercolouring

Happy Monday!

Hope you all had a great weekend and hopefully got a bit of sunshine in your neck of the woods.  Summer is slowly coming here, a bit too slow for me but it will get here, right?

This is a card cased from our Stampin' Success magazine that all demos get for FREE (yet, another reason to sign up-ideas galore) and I made this card with my newest downline, Sandi (wave) to show her how helpful the Stampin' Success magazines really are, even if you don't have the stamps (this one used Furry Folk-we used Easy Events but the card itself is the same.

We used the Woodgrain background stamp for the background with Crumb Cake ink onto the Crumb Cake card base for a tone on tone look.  The Decorative Label punch is Island Indigo and cut in half to add interest to our focal point.  The happy little snail is stamped using Black Stazon (so that the ink does not bleed) and then coloured in with our Blender Pens and ink pads.  The sentiment is from On Your Birthday, a retiring set and can you figure out how we made the grass?  No we didn't cut it with scissors, we used the Scallop edge punch and moved it halfway over and punched again.  Simple, fun birthday card.

Not Just a year older

 Remember your birthday when you were younger,you just couldn't wait to be 6 or 13, 16 to drive, 18 to vote, 19 to go to a bar and then the next big one was 21.  Well, now we are definitely alot older and gee can't we get CPP at 60! 

Today's card is simple but lovely.  Pink Pirouette base and then Melon Mambo 2 1/2" square to highlight the cupcake from Easy Events.  I stamped the cupcake onto watercolour paper and coloured in with my Aquapainter, using Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Chocolate Chip inks.  The sentiment from Bring on the Cake is stamped in Early Expresso.  My go to punch lately has been my corner rounder-just add that little bit of pizzazz to a card.  And to go with the card

 a cute little box made with Pink Pirouette cardstock and embossed using White embossing powder and the party favour from Crazy for Cupcakes.  The sentiment is also from that set and is stamped in Melon Mambo and some retired Melon Mambo ribbon holds the box closed so none of those Raffaello candies can slip out.  If you like coconut, you will love these candies from Ferrero. "Crisp Coconut Speciality with a Whole Almond" is the description on the box, and I will tell you, yummy!

 A nice little gift for one of us, getting closer to retirement!

Gift Tags for Christmas

Ok how many of you have Easy Events stamp set?  I have said I love this set, so good for so many occasions and I love the fact  you have a image and sentiment for each stamp so instead of eight stamps it is like getting 16 stamps-more for your money.  Need Christmas tags that get noticed?  Grab this set, some Red Glimmer paper, Whisper White, tag colour of your choosing, a matching ribbon, a green marker, black ink, Tombow adhesive and your Crop a dile and pull out the Merry Christmas stamp

and here is the result of mixing all those ingredients.

 Figured out why you needed your crop-0-dile yet?

That's right, punch out those berries on the Whisper White layer and attach to the Red Glimmer paper and the berries are now beautiful sparkly red.  Now I will say that the texture of the Glimmer paper is not friendly for most adhesives but Tombow bonds it perfectly.  And once you make one

 I used the same measurements and design for the tag as the one shown at convention, rounding the top with our 2 1/2" punch.  Want to give this as a gift, simply use one of our Small Cello bags 

 I used a Real Read 2 1/2" circle scored in half and folded over to close the bag.  The holly leaves are freehand cut  and don't you love that little clothespeg.

Tags

Even if  you can't wrap like a pro, add pizzazz with a tag. 

For this tag I used Daffodil Delight aas the base color and Tempting Turquoise for the extra pop of color.  The cupcake from Easy Events is stamped in Black Stazon, colored in with my blender pen and ink pads and cut out and then popped up with dimensionals onto the tag. The little sentiment tag uses a stamp from Circle Circus as the border and then punched out with our 1 3/8" circle punch.  Haven't noticed that sentiment in our catalogue, it's in there you just have to make it yourself using the "you" from Petite Pairs "begin with you" using your marker to colour ink up just the you and then grab the "i'm here for you" from the same set and ink up just the "for".  Now you could use your stamp a ma jig to perfectly align them or play on the wild side and bend your head and stamp!  The Daffodil Delight tafetta ribbon is secured with a Brights Glimmer Brad.  Add a half circle of DSP to the top before adding more ribbon and you have a beautiful tag to attach to your package.

Happy Labour Day!

Hopefully you have had a wonderful restful long weekend and enjoyed the last bit of summer, all the kids go back to school tomorrow, so you know that means traffic again!  I will say it was so nice having light traffic in the mornings.

Today is our son's birthday and here is his card.  Tempting Turquoise and Real Red and Whisper White, all bright colours.  The DSP is from Big Top Birthday and I fussy cut the bottom so it was just the Turquoise diamonds.  Now I have used the stamp set Bring on the Cake alot, but how did I not notice this Happy Birthday before?  Needless to say I will be using it again, love that font.

 The main image is from , yes, you guessed it, Easy Events and I "iced" it with Moonlight Smooch and then the platter with Silver Fox Smooch.  And no, I didn't run out of adhesive, I just wanted to use staples because when he was young, he loved staples and uses so many on anything he could get his hands on, so this is just a funny reminder.

Elegant Eggplant & Wisteria Wonder

 Purple is my favourite colour and Elegant Eggplant and Wisteria Wonder make a beautiful combination.  Again I have used a stamp from the Easy Events set the wedding birds, but simply not inking the sentiment you can make whatever type of card you wish.  I randomly stamped the Wisteria Wonder panel with various Delicate Doilies in Wisteria Wonder for a tone on tone effect and the birds are stamped and coloured on a piece of Watercolour paper and punched out with the Designer Label punch.  Punching another label in Elegant Eggplant, cutting it in half horizontally and layering it behind the image adds impact to the image.

Wisteria Wonder & Calypso Coral

Funny, that when we used to get our new "In Colours" every year, there is always a colour that I was  not too fond of,examples like Dusty Durango, Tangerine Tango (ok,  it is now a colour I kind of like!) but in the last two years, Stampin' Up's In Colours haven't had a "off" colour in them.  Wisteria Wonder, now I love purples and this is a lovely one.  I paired it with Pink Pirouette for a soft combination.  The DSP, from Berry Blossoms and notice the beautiful ribbon, it is the 3/8" Ruffled In Colour ribbon.

 Same layout, different colours. This time Naturals White and Calypso Coral and the DSP is from the same pack, Berry Blossoms.  I added some of our Basics Pearls to the centers of the flowers.

The stamp set, Easy Events both cards were stamped using Basic Grey, it is a permanent ink so you can use your blender pens to apply colour without worrying about the ink running.
