Does Stamping qualify as exercise?

I don't know but after all the wonderful Christmas cooking, definitely need to have a workout!  So go stamp!

How is this for a more masculine birthday card-and yes, that is DSP from the Letters to Santa pack, just because a pack is a seasonal pack, doesn't mean that the papers would not be perfect for other times.  I  used the Houndstooth embossing folder on the Old Olive cardstock, just love the texture and a Marina Mist Decorative Label peeks out from beneath the watercoloured image.

Not Just a year older

 Remember your birthday when you were younger,you just couldn't wait to be 6 or 13, 16 to drive, 18 to vote, 19 to go to a bar and then the next big one was 21.  Well, now we are definitely alot older and gee can't we get CPP at 60! 

Today's card is simple but lovely.  Pink Pirouette base and then Melon Mambo 2 1/2" square to highlight the cupcake from Easy Events.  I stamped the cupcake onto watercolour paper and coloured in with my Aquapainter, using Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Chocolate Chip inks.  The sentiment from Bring on the Cake is stamped in Early Expresso.  My go to punch lately has been my corner rounder-just add that little bit of pizzazz to a card.  And to go with the card

 a cute little box made with Pink Pirouette cardstock and embossed using White embossing powder and the party favour from Crazy for Cupcakes.  The sentiment is also from that set and is stamped in Melon Mambo and some retired Melon Mambo ribbon holds the box closed so none of those Raffaello candies can slip out.  If you like coconut, you will love these candies from Ferrero. "Crisp Coconut Speciality with a Whole Almond" is the description on the box, and I will tell you, yummy!

 A nice little gift for one of us, getting closer to retirement!

Crazy for Cupcakes

 

 This is a card that will stand out from the crowd using the bright Pacific Point cardstock as its base.  Thin strips of Whisper White highlight the Celebrations DSP and the image is stamped using Basic Grey ink and coloured with my blender pen and Daffodil Delight and Bashful Blue ink pads.  The cherries are coloured with Real Red marker and the cake stand is Smooched with Moonlight.  Inside

 Sentiment from Create a Cupcake and the little cupcakes at the bottom are from Short & Sweet.

I don't know why

but I had this stuck in my head, the song they sing at restaurants when it is someone's birthday, Happy, Happy Birthday and look what is on the card

 Bashful Blue and Night of Navy with the sentiment from Afterthoughts and a big cupcake from Crazy for Cupcakes.  Now, hopefully that song is out of my head, and it now stuck in yours!

Working on Birthday cards

This year my goal is to send a birthday card to each of my friends  for their birthday.  So far, I've done it, I know we have only started the year, but I have sent four birthday cards.  March and May have the most birthdays so am trying to get ahead.  Here is another one using Crazy for Cupcakes

 Background paper Sunny Garden DSP and I have used Poppy Parade for the mats.  The image and sentiment are stamped using Basic Grey ink, I love the fact that it is waterproof it does not smudge when coloring the images with my blender pen. Using blender pens and ink pads results in a more translucent color than using your markers especially on dark colors like the Chocolate chip and Poppy Parade.

Crazy for Cupcakes

 This card for for Sketch Challenge over on Sudsol and uses the set, Crazy for Cupcakes.  I love this image and realize as I am typing this, I forgot to color the stand.  I was going to use my Silver Smooch once the card was all together and completely forgot,  Oh, but it will be done, before I send the card!!!

The cupcakes are colored using my blender pen and ink pads.  I love the blender pen to get color that isn't too opaque and using my Stamp a ma Jig I added the sentiment.  If you don't have this fabulous tool, put it on your Wish List.  With this tool, you will never ruin another card with a crooked, misplaced image.

 It will be the best $15.50 you have ever spent.

  

I also used the Bigz Tasteful Trim die, a carryover from the Holiday Mini.  This die cuts out four different trims that are fabulous for scrapbook pages and cards as well as fabric.

Accordian cards

 
Are super easy and certainly pack alot of punch.  Check out this card

  Crumb Cake is a wonderful neutral base that makes the other colors pop.  For the images, I used Crazy for Cupcakes for the first image, coloring with my blender pen and ink pads. 
Using the Boho Blossoms and 5 Petal Flower punches I made the flower using a So Saffron Flower brad to hold it all together.  The next image is the Party Hats from Party Hearty, now that is a set I don't have, but I have My Digital Studio!  Simply print it out right on your printer and color the images, how great is that! 

Add some bling with rhinestones!

 And the finale, paper pieced balloons from Crazy for Cupcakes and the sentiment from On your Birthday.

Now, that is a Big Birthday Wish!

"Z" Fold

no, I am not speaking with a accent, but how about a card fold that looks like a Z, thus the name Z fold. It is a quick and easy card style that uses a 4 1/4 x 11 piece of cardstock, so just your regular size.  Now score it in the landscape position at 2 3/4 & 5 1/2, fold at the 5 1/2 score like you normally would, and then fold at the 2 3/4" score back.  You are done, except for the embellishing.

 And look, I am using lots of Designer Series paper, another bonus for this type of card, I am not going to hoard (repeat that ten times to convince yourself).  The base is Wild Wasabi and the DSP is Marina Mist from the Subtles Collection. The cupcake is stamped onto Whisper white, the wrapper/cake part is paper pieced using Chocolate Chip and the candle, flame and sprinkles are colored with markers.  I did have to commit a sin for the icing and use Non SU stuff, but I really wanted a fluffy look (yes, it is Liquid Applique).  the sentiment from On Your Birthday stamped with Marina Mist onto Whisper White.

More Birthday Packaging

So how about a quick, inexpensive Birthday treat for a coworker or neighbour?

Yes, that is the same little giftbox I made a few weeks ago, but this time using Printed Window sheets from Cast a Spell retired DSP.  This time, I have filled the box with decadent chocolates and added a mini giftcard/birthday card made with the Top Note die.  The big cupcake from Crazy for Cupcakes is paper pieced and inside

My quest continued

trying to find a different style of gift card holder and I found a sliding gift card holder so of course I had to make it.  It is the size of a standard card so it fits perfectly into one of our Medium envelopes

 And here is the gift card holder and just pull the two sides and reveal the contents

How cool is that?
