July 1st, half the year over and now starts my favorite time of the year-SUMMER! Love the sunshine and the heat- I never complain about being too hot, too cold-now that is another thing!
Summer is filled with flowers and poppies are one of my favorite flowers, probably why I love this background stamp from Stampin' Up!- Pleasant Poppies.
I love this stamp as a background image but the way it is drawn, you can also just ink up part and have it become a focal image like on this card.
I stamped the flowers using Black Stazon ink and coloured it in with my Blender pen and Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango inks and then used my Daffodil Delight Marker to colour in the centers. I love using my Blender Pens for deep colours, it makes them not so dark but the light colours like the Daffodil Delight, is barely seen when using the blender pen.
The sentiment is from the new Hostess set, Express Yourself with a little Scotch Tape masking to take off the always at the beginning.
Stampin' Up has some beautiful background stamps, none more beautiful than Pleasant Poppies. It is a big stamp but the way it is drawn, you can only use portions of it, allowing you to use it with many different layouts.
Don't cut your stamp just turn the stampover so that the stamp side up and using your ink pad carefullly ink up the area you want to use. I used Versamark to ink up the stamp for this card and used gold embossing powder. I could have colored in the flowers with a blender pen and ink but I liked the clean elegant look. Sentiment is from One in a Million, this set reminds me of Petite Pairs, but the sentiments are bigger. I matted with our Brushed Gold cardstock and layered onto a Melon Mambo card base.
