It is the second Wednesday of the month and that means it's time for another Around the World on Wednesday hop! This month we are checking our new catalogues for inspiration. The new catalogues are always exciting, checking out all the new things but unless you expedited your order, you are "patiently" waiting for your UPS delivery. So what a better time to really study the catalogue and notice things you missed, like colour combinations, layouts and of course stamps and accessories that you can add to your next order!
One of the things that stuck out to me in the catalogue was rectangles- I know, what? There are a lot of cards with rectangles, layered rectangles, banners and background stamping. So here is my first card, it has all those things.
I love the giraffe from Back on Your Feet and doesn't he fit nice into the Stitched Rectangle and then I layered it onto a Mango Melody rectangle. The sentiment is heat embossed using White embossing powder onto Basic Black to make it pop. The leaves in the background are from Rooted in Nature and add that third black to balance the card.
Next I chose a couple of layouts that I really liked to copy, first up this pretty card from the Peony Garden Suite on page 83.
To me, it is such a simple but so pretty card. So here is my version using To a wild Rose stamp set,
The sentiment is from Heartfelt and since I have no current DSP I used I just used the Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder and Versamark and rubbed it with my hand to transfer some of the ink onto the cardstock. I really like this layout and think it will work for lots of different occasions.
And next a card from page 97
Love all the stars and thought, hmmm, umbrellas! And since the Under My Umbrella set and punch have carried over I am happy! I am needing sunshine desperately so here is the next best thing, bright, cheerful colours. Purple Posy base then colourful umbrellas.
Yes the card I made loosely follows the sample but that is the idea of casing, pull what you like, in this case, I loved the sentiment placement, twine and images down the left side of the card.
Now it's time to visit Sharon's blog and see what inspired her. Just click on the Next button below to visit her blog or use the Roll Call List below to find your way along our blog hop.
