This month we are focusing on our favourite Colouring. Stampin' Up has several great colouring mediums, we have Watercolour pencils, markers, blends, Aquapainters and Blender pens and if you have been reading my blog for awhile, you know my favourite colouring tool, Blends! Why do I love the Blends, they are alcohol based markers so that means no streaks in your colouring.
Our Blends come in our exclusive colours with both a brush tip and a bullet tip with the sets including a light and dark pen of the same colour. All of my cards today use Under My Umbrella stamp set, it has a coordinating punch that cuts out the umbrellas and the handle, got to love that! First up, I have a pocket card using Early Expresso and Mango Melody for a bright colour combination.
I love the rain boots and flowers, even if I had to fussy cut them, they are really not hard to cut out. I used Call me Clover for the boots and Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody and Pineapple Punch for the flowers and just basic colouring. The sentiment is from Honey Bee Now this type of card is perfect if you want to write a bit or attach a gift card
Did you know that we have a Colour Lifter pen that goes with the Blends, now you may think what do I need that for? Well check out the Night of Navy Umbrella on this Joy fold card
That is not DSP it is coloured with the Blends and then using the Colour Lifter, I draw the plaid pattern. The colour lifter moves the ink, allowing you to make patterns, think lines, dots, flowers etc. And it is so easy and takes your image to the next level. The Flirty Flamingo umbrellas are coloured with the Light and Dark pens, see how beautifully you can graduate the colours.
Inside there are those boots again, this time I stamped them onto the Whisper White and masked them before adding the flowers, no fussy cutting!
And lastly I have a Stair step card, these cards look so fancy but they are so simple to make, yes, you will screw up the first one, but after that, they are a breeze to make.
Blends are easy to use and you will get better results the more you use them, I personally love the bullet tip and rarely use the brush tip unless I have really big areas to colour. You can get bleeding outside your lines as your paper absorbs the alcohol just stay a tiny bit inside the lines and it will be perfect. Should you wait for one colour to dry before you change colour hues? I don't. I find I get better blending when everything it wet (don't worry it isn't WET WET, if it is cool to the touch, it's wet. And yes, blends bleed through your paper, so colour on a scrap piece of paper and make sure your card does not allow the back of your coloured image to be seen, it really isn't pretty! Attach your coloured images to another piece of cardstock.
