It's Summers Last Hurrah

Labour Day weekend, weather is supposed to be gorgeous, and we are going to have a nice relaxing weekend.  My last card this week is the same Fun Fold from Monday, just different colours and flipped.

I used the Blueberry Bushel DSP from the Noble Peacock pack and ran the back cardstock through the Big Shot with the Layered Leaves folder as it was still out.  I think I like the card better with the texture, makes the back piece a little more interesting.  I swapped out the circle for a square and attached the Whisper White card off center and did you notice I also flipped it so instead of a top fold, the fold is now on the side, which I think makes a more stable card.  I am one of those side fold people, Well that is all for this week, yay, I told you I had a whole week done for you.  Have a fabulous and safe Holiday weekend and see you Tuesday!

It's Pineapple Punch

and boy it is bright!   But it does go so beautiful with Blueberry Bushel 

And check out those boots, they look almost neon!  This is another super simple card with a great layout, you just need your card base, a banner, a little piece of DSP and your image.  Change up the image panel, to a square, oval or circle, change the width of the banner, change the card orientation, it layout is super flexible.  I used a almost 2" strip of Noble Peacock DSP and used the Triple Banner Punch to banner the end and then a small piece of Pineapple Punch DSP  just about it. The happy cow is stamped with Memento, coloured with Blends and ran through the Big Shot with the  Rectangle Stitched Framelits .

For some reason, I can't get a good picture of the DSP but you will see it tomorrow on a different card.  I used the Noble Peacock rhinestones adding the one at the bottom to hide a splotch of wild glue!  My Dad also told me a great carpenter know how to hide his mistakes, so a great cardmaker, embellishes!

Dream Big

I was alway told, I could do whatever I set my sights on and that is a very true statement.  Not only does Dreaming Big set intentions but if you don't dream big, you will never accomplish big things.  I also believe in setting goals, and I like to start each week with a list of what I want to accomplish and cross off things as they are done.  I get so much more done and actually have a lot more free time as a result.  I know it may sound crazy, but try it and see how it works for you.  

Blueberry Bushel and Seaside Spray I think make a beautiful combination so Seaside Spray base, and a Blueberry Bushel layer that is embossed with the Layering Leaves folder. I added a strip of Feels Like Frost DSP to the center using the foil side and then a Sparkle Glimmer paper Scalloped circle onto which I added a Vellum circle with the relaxed cow. That is a quick and easy card.

Using up what's on the desk

If you are a crafter like me, sometimes when you are making a card, things don't work out just the way you saw it in your head, and the offending pieces are put to the side.  This card is made up of those offending pieces.  The background, brick pattern down with our embossing paste has been on the desk for months and the vellum circle and the stamped cow.  So here is it, all put together

 

That works don't you think?  I used Gorgeous Grape for the card base, adding a little bit of matting to the sentiment and then some of the Highland Heather flower sequins from the Gingham Gala pack.  I cut out the cow and attached her to the Vellum circle stamping a few tuffs of grass with Memento ink and colouring on the back with Granny Apple Green blends.  Now those annoying pieces have come together to make what I think, a gorgeous card that will be heading to someone special.

It's the last week of August!

And gracious, has August been flying by for you too?  This summer has been one of the best weatherwise  for us in a few years.  Lots of sun, lots of warm days (my favs) but we have had rain too which has really lowered the fire risks and as a result, we just had one day so far with a bit of smoke from a fire just across the border in Washington State.   

Last week was a bad week for me blogwise, got called in to work and didn't get anything done.  This week I am prepared, all five days are done and will automatically post so no matter what this week throws my way, at least my blog is perfect! And this week again, is all about cows!  I am in love with the Over the Moon set and I am going to get you to love it too!

First card, a Fancy fold.  This is a fold that I have used often this year,  it is just a lovely easy fold

Funny how as we get older, we start needing different types of cards and I for one am happy to make a retirement card instead of the other type of card that I have been making a lot lately!

Can you see that gorgeous DSP, it is called Noble Peacock Speciality and even thought this pack only has 12 sheets (they are single sided) and costs more than the other papers ($20 a pack), it is so beautiful.  It has Blueberry Bushel, Pretty Peacock and the one I used here, Old Olive papers and they all have foil accents, simply stunning.  The sentiment is from the On to Adventure set. The cow of course is stamped in Memento ink and coloured with my Blends.

A beautiful surprise in my mail box

Check out this beautiful card I received from Lynn Mattingley who is a member of RAndom Acts of Kindness group that I belong to.  Lynn used Tropical Chic stamp set and such a lovely colour combination, one that I definitely would not of thought of, Cajun Craze. Mango Melody, Crumb Cake and Basic Black.    Now what you can't see in the pictures is, Lynn clear embossed the Cajun Craze leaves slightly off adding such a beautiful effect.

Sailing Home

I belong to a couple of Stamping groups and through one of the groups I met a fellow demo who vacations where I live.  We get together whenever she is in town.  Sunday we did a shoebox swap where we each design a card and bring the necessary products so we can each make it.  It was a great time and we both designed with stamp sets the other did not have, how is that for perfect.  I used my Over the Moon set and Terry used the Sail Away bundle.  Here is the card she designed

Isn't it lovely?  The beach and water are simply torn edges and then we sponged a little White Stazon onto the Night of Navy so that there was some definition.  Nothing better than stamping with friends right?

Turkey Tuesday!

In our house years ago, it used to be Taco Tuesday but today I have Turkey Tuesday.  Yes it's a bit early for Thanksgiving cards, but I do have to show off this new stamp set, Bird of a Feather.

I just got in a new package of Crumb Cake as I was all out, so happy as Crumb Cake is a great neutral, it really goes with any colour.  I used a piece of Poppy Parade DSP and then used Poppy Parade for the apron and hat band.  I don't know about you but my hubby would definitely give thanks for a pie like that!

Monday, Monday

It’s a fabulous day, looking forward to another fun week, a a week full of sunshine and heat!  Today I have my first Christmas card for you.  I know Christmas cards already but it is only 103 days till December 1st, when you should be mailing your cards.  And since I got my preorder, I did get one of the new stamp sets, not just Christmas but it is going to do Thanksgiving, Halloween and Valentines cards too.  It is called Birds of a Feather and it’s got the cutest birds and wait, perfect for  Colouring.  Here is the set

i have actually used a free new products, the DSP is from a beautiful 6x6 pack called  Feels like Frost .  It has beautiful colour photographs on one side all winter feel and the other side is white with  silver metallic hand drawn designs, it is simply gorgeous.  And notice the texture on the card, that is the new Hammered Metal 3D Embossing Folder.  I used our new In Colour, Seaside Spray for the card along with the Seaside Spray Blend for colouring the little bird.  What do you think, a great stamp set right?
