Last day of the year.

2018 just about over, hard to believe how fast times goes by as we get older.  2019 has lots to look forward to, a brand new slate to live your life to its fullest.  And on January 3rd, Sale-a-bration starts along with our new Occasions catalogue, I told you there was lots to look forward to!  And since Sale-a-bration starts this week, I am going to use Sale-a-bration products this week so you can see how great they really are.  

First up, two products, stamp set, Part of my Story and the beautiful DSP Botanical Butterfly.

Just one stamp for this card, the rest is all that beautiful DSP.  Don't you love the sentiment,truthfully that sentiment is why I chose this set.  The other sentiments are great too,

They are great aren't they and the have really nice fonts.  The DSP pack is black & white on one side and coloured on the other.  For this card I used part of just one sheet,  beautiful butterfly I used on the card is on the collared side and is super easy to fussy cut out and the backside of the paper is this lovely check.  I added a fewGingham Gala adhesive backed sequins to finish off the card.

And it's Friday

but it certainly doesn't feel like a Friday does it?  I thought yesterday was Monday and went to work on time for Monday, only it was Thursday so I was 30 minutes early!  Today I have a sneak peek of So Hoppy Together, Sale-a-bration set, featuring three cute frogs.  Wanna see one

Isn't he a cute little guy, looks studious to me but maybe it's just the glasses.  And the images in this set are so great to colour, here I used my Blends- Granny Apple Green dark and light and used a piece of Blueberry Bushel DSP  for the stripes.  I used the Fine Tip glue pen on the lens of the glasses to add just that little bit more

Butterfly Gala

Hope that you all had a wonderful Christmas.  I had a really lovely Christmas, one of my best in years, no stress just laughter and fun.   And on Boxing day, got some time to play with the new goodies from the Occasions and since I needed a few Thank you cards, I got to play and cross something off my to do list.  First up, Butterfly Gala suite.  It is just lovely but better yet, there are coordinating products in the Sale a bration catalogue that you can get for FREE.  So check out this butterfly

The big plus in my opinion, The suite has a punch that punches out the large butterfly and a small one too.  This butterfly is from the FREE Sale-a-bration DSP pack and it has a free sheets that punch out too-talk about a game changer- no fussy cutting, no framelits.  Quick and easy just the way I like it.  The Gingham DSP is part of the Butterfly Gala Suite along with the pretty adhesive backs sequins while the sentiment is from Love What you do set.

Merry Christmas

It's Christmas Eve

So one last Christmas item, a stocking stuffer, homemade lip balm.  THis is a recipe that I have made for a few years and it is a keeper, my friends and family love this balm.  

 

Yes, that is retired paper from last year, I really have been good about using up those bits and pieces and not putting them away when I moved rooms.

And by putting the balms in little books, they won't think they got any in their stockings this year!

Spirited Snowmen

November Paper Pumpkin had some beautiful sentiments and paper that just begged to be used for other projects.  I used the Snowpeople couple for this card colouring them with my Blends and sponging on Balmy Blue and Pacific Point, very lightly to give a background.  Cut out the image with our Stitched Squares and layered with the Nesting Squares Scalloped Square in Cherry Cobbler.  I know, Cherry Cobbler not a colour I use often, but like I have said many times, our DSP is what makes me use colours I would not normally use and then all of a sudden, I love that colour.  That is one of the biggest things that attracted me to Stampin' Up ten years ago, the colour coordination, no guessing, will it work, the colours work every time across their papers, inks and ribbons.

 

I pulled out the gold lines in the plaid and used our Gold Embossing powder on our Vellum card stock for the sentiment and attached a couple of epoxy hearts and not sending a naked envelope it too gets a little gold embossed Christmas tree.  The card base is Crumb Cake from the kit

The inside of the envelopes in the kit were lines with a coordinating plaid for a beautiful finish.

More Tags

Getting down to the last of things needed to finish off Christmas at the house.  The tree is up, we haven't had a tree in years, as we used to Christmas in California and popping a string of lights on the palm tree and adding a few outside large Christmas bulbs was the extent of our decorating.  Our son told us this year, since he will be here for Christmas, a tree is mandatory.  So we put up a tree and decorated it with all of his ornaments from the time he was born till last year, that should put a smile on his face and bring back lots of memories. 

And some tags for gifts, little 3 x 3 Crumb Cake tags with Signs of Santa images 

And a Spirited Snowman, that was found on my desk, looking a bit lost but now with his scarf and hat coloured looks happy to be adorning a gift!   I love punches, they make everything so quick.  Starburst Punch for the gold foil sheet and 1 3/4 & 2"  punches for the images.

 

A little colouring with my Blends, if you haven't tried Blends, come to my upcoming classes to test them out.More on those next week.  Truthfully they are wonderful, love the streak free colour.

And you need an elf

It's Wednesday, the week is flying by.  A elf would certainly be handy to do some chores around here, what about at your house?  I would love an elf to come and return my stamp room to its glory with a clean table, I really have been bad about not cleaning up after myself.  I still haven't finished sorting all my bits, finally got my shelves from Ikea and one of the shelves was missing a clip that installs it into the cabinet so that shelf can't have anything on it.  Well, the clip came, then I was working and other things take priority.  Now my challenge to myself is- want to open that Stampin' Up box that is looking at you from the floor----well, clean up then you can open it.  I think that will be a great motivation.  

Today the card is same layout as yesterday, just a different image fromSigns of Santa, this time the elf and his wagon of gifts.

 

Again vellum but this time, I used my Layering Circles to die cut it, layering two circles for more depth.  Just about finished up this last sheet of DSP,

Signs of Santa

I am sad that this set is retiring, I just love it and it has been one much used set.    I seem to be on a Vellum kick, using it to make images stand out from busy paper.  Now diagonal stripes may not seem busy but being a very bright Real Red, they would made our Mr. & Mrs Claus disappear.

I used the tree from Timeless Tidings and Shaded Spruce and stamped a couple of trees onto the vellum before attaching our Happy Couple.  A very crooked greeting, confirms this card is handmade!

Gift Card Holders

Are a perfect way of using up bits and pieces of retired DSP.  For this holder I just needed a piece 3 x  4 3/4 that I cut down to 3 x 1 3/4 and 3 x 3 and this was the last scrap of this paper that I had.

I pulled the Mellow Moss from the ornaments  and added a scrap of Real Red Foil to make our little elf from Signs of Santa pop off the page.  Remove the belly band and 

 

The gift card is safely tucked inside.  Quick and easy but a perfect way to make a simple gift card a tad bit more.

And my preorder did arrive-on Sunday at 3:30, right while I am typing up this post.  Yes, I am happy but think the box is going to stay shut until Wednesday as I'm working for the next two days and still have things to get done around the house.
