Did September fly by for you too?  And now, October, the month for Ghosts & Goblins. So much to tell you today, so let's start off with the October Special.

25 Years of Stampin' Up!

Hello You

If you have been reading my blog for awhile, you know Crushed Curry is not one of my favorite colours, but mix it with Strawberry Slush and it is a beautiful colour!  Hmmm, I may even have to buy more! Regarding Dahlias is a perfect set for everyday cards. It has a few nice sentiments in the set and one big beautiful flower.  

 I used Strawberry Slush ink for stamping for a tone on tone look, stamping the flower off the edge of the paper to create a frame for the sentiment.  The butterfly is simply punched out of Vellum with our Bitty Butterfly punch. (It's the one that comes in the Butterfly bundle with Papillion Potpourri that is on sale till11 PM today for a 15% discoutn)  Add a few rhinestones for some bling and this simple card is done.

Great additions for our Stampin' Up Trimmer

Hello, My Friend

This stunning card is made by Barb Stencel, a fellow SUDSOLer.  I just love the colours she used, Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Gumball Green and Soft Sky.  First Barb heat embossed the flowers in the bottom right and then using her sponges she applied bands of colour.  The  hello is then stamped and punched butterflies and rhinestones add the finishing touches.

He' just too stinkin' cute!

I showed you a Minion card I made before, with little punched Minions but I saw on SCS a Minion card made by Rae of Wildwest Paper arts, I just had to try it.  Rae's card used only one eye and silver Glimmer paper, really cute.

I used So Saffron for the card base, freeing hand cutting the top sides into a minion head shape and made the card 5" tall to allow for the hair to stick up and still fit in a envelope.  The Pacific Point coveralls are simply a rectangIe with marker stitching and the straps just strips attached with Basic Black brads (using up my retired stuff).  I needed a card for my 6 year old niece, who had a pretty bad fall.  I hope this puts a smile on her face and you know, I think now she will listen never jump on the couch again!

No time to make a card

Let's Extend your Flip a little bit

And just what am I talking about?  Our Thinlits Circle die that makes beautiful and easy flip cards.  I have shown you the standard card but did you know it is just as easy to make it a bit longer.

tLooks just like the basic card but flip it and 

another panel to flip

and plenty of space to write!  And just how easy is this?  Simply use a standard 5 1/2 X 8 !/2 piece of card stock and instead of laying the die on top of the card stock, insert the paper into the die like this

and pushing it in all the way to end of the die

like this and then run it through your Big Shot.  Where the end of the die is, it will make a mark and that is where you score it and fold it.  Told you it was easy!

Ever tried a See thru card?

Easy to make using a Window Sheet, just make sure that you score it a couple of times and burnish it well to get a good crease.  The next thing you have to think about when you make this type of card is it's see thru so you get a wonderful view of the glue if you don't think wisely.  For this card, the reindeer from Colour me Christmas is attached to the front of the card and the Decorative Label punch is attached to the inside of the front panel.

Inside the trees and sentiment are attached and on the back of the card is a Whisper White panel embossed withe Northern Flurry impressions folder.

Pop 'n Cuts Cards

Let's get Grungy!

If you haven't checked out the stamp set, Gorgeous Grunge, you really should give it a peek.  Truthfully, looking at it in the catalogue, you probably would just pass over it

Dots, splotches, lines, I mean just what would you do with it? 

How about  have some fun!  I used the  splotches and Versamark and inked up my cardstock in a random pattern and then embossed it using clear embossing powder, giving a tone on tone look. I like the look but not one to stop when I should, I added a couple of spritzs with my Vanilla Shimmer Smooch.  Glimmer galore-this time not stopping paid off!!I then used my Silver Encore pad to stamp the greeting from Sweet Essentials on a1/4" strip of Melon Mambo and then popped it up on dimensionals onto a piece of Brushed Silver cardstock that I attached to the card and added some extra bling with rhinestones.  Inside

The trophy from Tag It, stamped again in Silver Encore.  And this card is headed to my dear niece, Rhiannon, whose favorite colour is pink and who passed her capstone!
