I like to make clean Sympathy cards and this card certainly fits the bill. I used our Basic Grey Archival ink for a sharp crisp image and the flower is from Remarkable You and the sentiment from Rose Wonder.
Rose Wonder has beautiful dies that cut out the sentiment but I elected to stamp the sentiment and frame directly onto the layer and with the frame around the sentiment, it looks like it is layered.
when you don't need them? I personally find Sympathy cards are the hardest cards to make when I need them. I much prefer to make them when I don't need them so I can choose one when I do. Unfortunately, we have lost a few friends in the last month and my stash was depleted. And you guessed it, I needed one. Took me three days to feel inspired to make one. I love clean simple cards and I think this one fits the bill.
Three layers, all Whisper White and crisp black stamping thanks to our Basic Black Archival ink. I used the flower image from Butterfly Basics and was tempted to use a soft colour palette to colour in the flowers but decided not to and I am glad that I did. The beautiful sentiment is from a set that I just loved, Close as a Memory. Now, I really need to think about making some more before I need them or maybe just tell my friends, they aren't allowed to leave just yet! Yep, I think I like that the best. Don't forget, hug the ones you love and call and say hi, if you can't
Other than "man" cards, I find Sympathy cards are hard to make. I have said it before, one should really have a stash of Sympathy cards on hand so when you need one, you just don't have to make it. Myself, I find that I am just not creative when I need one. Unfortunately, I had used up my stash (another sign of my aging!) when a very close friend passed. I really had a hard time making a card for his wife. Finally I did and was pleased with the results.
In my mind, simple was the way to go and what could be simpler than black & white with a few layers. The flower is from Butterfly Basics and the sentiment is an old one, As Close as a Memory, one set that is always in my stamp cupboard. Love our Basic Black Archival ink for clear, crisp stamping.
And of course, the envelope too needs a little dressing up.
