Change it up

Get tired of always making the same size cards, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2, well take a break and make a different size.  Stampin' Up sells different size envelopes like our Small Open end envelopes 6 3/4 x 3 1/2 that  you can mail still taking the standard postage.  Try making a 6 x 3 card, 12 x 12 cardstock sheets are perfect for making this size of card, you get 4 cards from each sheet.   Want a stand up tall card, cut your cardstock 6 x 6 and score at three or if you want a long skinny card with a side fold, cut the cardstock        3 x 12.  Today's card is tall and skinny so 6 x 6 scored at 3

I love Lucky Limeade for a Christmas card, traditional but bright and cheery and mixed with Riding Hood Red  it certainly pops.  I stamped the tall tree from Punch Pals, a fun Christmas set that has been around for awhile. I stamped the snowflakes using Lucky Limeade for a subtle tone on tone background and then the tree is coloured in with Lucky Limeade with Riding Hood Red baubles.  I used some retired Riding Hood Red tafetta ribbon (I am almost finished that roll!) and the sentiment is from Petite Pairs but the border around it is from Punch Pals set.  Inside

Quick & Easy

are the type of projects that you need for the upcoming gift giving season but you want them to look fabulous.  If you are anything like me, I give alot of gift cards at Christmas and I just don't like popping them in a envelope to give, so quick and easy gift card holders are a must.

For these holders I started with the DSP, choosing Holly Berry Bouquet from the Holiday Mini and then pulling the colours from that.  The base is made with Wild Wasabi cardstock and then a simple strip of Real Red and the image uses Very Vanilla and So Saffron.  

The image is from Punch Pals a oldie but a great Christmas set in the Idea Book & Catalogue on page 39.  This set includes 12 stamps including a snowman, penguin, tree, tag, a couple of sentiments and some smaller decoration type stamps.  We stamped the image twice, first on  So Saffron and punching out with our 1 1/4" circle punch and then stamping again onto Very Vanilla and punching out with the 1 3/4" Scallop punch layering them and attaching a Holly Berry Bouquet button that was threaded with Linen thread tied in a bow.  A lenght of So  Saffron taffetta ribbon becomes the pull for the tag that was cut using our Two Tags die for the Big Shot.  This tag has the slit aready in it to slip the gift card into and I just used a bit of dotto on the back of the gift card to make sure it stays put.

Punch Pals Pop Up

now say that five times quickly. 

For today's simple but WOW card,uses three products to add sparkle and texture to the card.  I have used Gold Embossing, Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz and Northern Flurry Embossing folder.  Now on the outside it looks just like any other card

 Bashful Blue card base with Whisper White mats, Bashful Blue DSP from the Subtles DSP stack, a bit of Bashful Blue Satin Ribbon, Gold embossed presents from Punch Pals and the snowman stamped with Black Stazon onto Whisper White, colored with blender pen and ink pads and then cut out and attached with dimensionals.  But when you open the card

 I can't believe I actually managed to capture the shimmer from the Smooch Spritz.  I ran half of the Whisper White through the Big Shot with the Northern Flurry embossing folder and then stamped the two trees with Versamark and then embossing with Gold embossing powder. The trees are colored with Old Olive Ink and my blender pen and then masking the bottom portion of the card, I sprayed with Vanilla Shimmer Smooch  Spritz.  I then cut two 1/2" slits at the fold, push this piece away from the fold to attach the snowman.

 and then stamped the sentiment from Many Merry Messages in Versamark and again used the Gold Embossing powder.

 Now attach this layer to the inside of the Bashful  Blue layer and you have a pop up card.

He is the star of the show

Who?  The penguin from Punch Pals, just look at him with the flashing lights all around him

 

Ok maybe it is Glass Glitter but doesn't it look cool?  And just what does this belly band do, but hold a gift card holder closed

 Any of our Stampin' Up Designer Series papers are perfect for this style of gift card holder.

 Since all our DSP is double sided even the inside looks great.

Using those Holiday Mini Goodies

These simple tags use the 2 1/2" circle punch, the  Scallop Square Duo Bigz Die both from the Holiday Mini.  The Scallop Square Duo is just like the Scallop Square die but includes two scallop squares and the larger of the two is perfect for making 3 x 3 notes.

 so how about some Christmas tags.  The images are all from Punch Pals (116588) and are stamped with Black Stazon onto Shimmery White and watercolored using ink pads and my Aquapainter.  These simple tags are quick and easy to make and will certainly brighten up a Christmas package.

Warm Winter Wishes

 This layout is from a challenge over at SUDSOL and I think it works beautifully.  Don't you just love the Snowman from Punch Pals so happy. Believe it or not, the DSP is Melon Mambo, I went through lots of DSP trying to find something that worked and it went the best with the Real Red.

Casing the Catty

 Isn't this close to the card on page 41?  I didn't have any red buttons so I used Linen thread instead.  Yes, one more Christmas card done. How are you doing on your Christmas cards?  Remember only 119 days till December 1st, are you going to be ready?
