Can never have

too many Thank you cards. 

   At a loss as to what colors to use when you make a card, choose your Designer Series paper and pull the colors from it.  All our our papers are designed to coordinate with our Stampin' Up Color Collections.  Check any catalogue and under each paper, it lists the colors removing any guesswork.  Now that doesn't mean you can't use it with other colors, but it simplifies it for when you just can't find a combination that works! 

The paper I used today comes from the Sunny Day DSP pack on page 174 of the 2010-11 Idea Book & Catalogue.  The coordinating colors- Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, Peach Parfait.  I stamped the flower image from Friends 24/7 in Basic Grey onto Whisper White and colored in the image with Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight  and a touch of Peach Parfait.  The image is then matted with Peach Parfait and the sentiment stamped onto Pear Pizzazz.

It's February

 
 
January is always a hard month for me, too much rain and grey but February in previous years, means sun and warmth on this island.  Gee, can we hope it happens again? And warmth is anything over 15C!

To help encourage spring, a spring card

 The bird in this set, Friends 24/7 reminds of a robin so after stamping him in Early Expresso I used my aquapainter and ink pads to color him in just like a robin.  The paper is from the DSP pack, Sunny Garden and the sentiment Sincere Salutions, don't you love the font.  The card base is Soft Suede, a color that I really don't use often and the ribbon is also Soft  Suede, a retired one from last year.

The best laid plans

Yes, you know what happens!  Yesterday UPS was supposed to deliver my order, filled with new stuff and you know it, it didn't happen  :( .  I was looking forward to the new stamps and punches and have some great ideas for cards but no, I got to do housework (ok that makes me happy too!).  Today I have to work in the morning so watch he will come and I will end up working late!! 

Anyway, I was flipping through Stampin' Success, the demonstrator magazine and saw a cute little 3 x 3 notecard and made it and then made another and changed it. 

I changed the colors to Melon Mambo, Whisper White and Pink Pirouette but everything else is the same including the stamp set, Friends 24/7.  And now, the card I changed

I used the same colors, Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette and again clear embossed the large Flourish from Friends 24/7 onto the Melon Mambo card base and some Pink Pirouette using the Butterfly punch for the image.  I used Rhinestones to finish the butterfly off and instead of attaching the Whisper White and Pink Pirouette strips to the front I attached them to the inside back.  Try it the next time you case a card, make another, putting  your own spin on it.

Emboss Resist

Lately I have been having alot of fun with techniques.  Emboss resist is a very easy technique, use glossy card stock and stamp a solid image with Versamark ink.  Emboss with clear embossing powder and then using a sponge, rub on classic ink.  Clean off the embossed images and you are done.  This technique can be used for backgrounds or the focal image on your card.

For this card I used the stamp set Friends 24/7 and Mellow Moss, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron and Basic Black.  A little Black gingham ribbon finishes the card.

Thinking of You

More of that beautiful Old Olive Taffeta ribbon to highlight this subtle card.  I have used Pretty in Pink and Whisper White and splattered on Pretty in Pink and Bashful Blue on the background using my Color Spritzer tool.  The sentiment though light stands out much better in real life.

Friends 24/7

 Simple card, nice stamp set.  Soft Suede, one of the new In Colors, is one that I am really trying to use.  I find that Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry are my favorites so I have refused to allow myself to use them and have been trying hard to give the other colors a chance.  The funny thing is, the most you use them, the easier it is!

This card uses Soft Suede ink, ribbon and cardstock so I really did use the color.  Mix in some Old Olive my favorite and I am a happy stamper.
